Art and the Outdoors
Alternative Learning Provision
Supporting learners through creative outdoor education
What is Art and the Outdoors?
Art and the Outdoors, is a child centred learning environment, that creates an abundance of positive opportunities to develop a love of learning in a safe and supportive space with 1:1 facilitation.
Art and the Outdoors is committed to delivering high quality alternative education provision for learners from Yr 3 – Post 16 and beyond.
We support learners in need of an alternative, creative and flexible approach to education in a safe environment.
By giving learners 1:1 support we’re able to help them reach their personal potential.
We have proven experience supporting learners through a range of life challenges such as managing transitions, progression to further and higher education and preparing for adulthood. And offer the opportunity for learners to work towards Arts Award, Functional Skills or vocational qualifications as well as ensuring learners with SEND meet the needs and outcomes of their EHCP’s.
What is important to us…
By focusing on play through the arts, we believe that learners are able to enjoy the process of learning, helping them to develop a life long, love of learning.
Through exploration of the natural world, interactions with animals, supported risk taking and engagement through the many and varied creative arts, learners are able to develop confidence and self esteem. Working in our wonderful location between Bath and Bradford-on-Avon allows us to explore all of these themes.
Jen is a qualified teacher with over 18 years experience working across mainstream, special schools and alternative education. She is able to build supportive, trusting relationships with the learners in her care, allowing them the safe space in which they not only learn, but are able to thrive.
We believe that…
• Everybody has the ability to reach their full potential when they feel accepted and valued.
• Everybody deserves an education that meets their individual needs.
• When there is a focus on play through the arts, learners are able to enjoy the process of learning, helping them to develop a life long, love of learning
• Developing social communication skills and emotional resilience underpins what is needed to learn, grow and function in a complicated world.
• All behaviour is communication and sometimes people need help to develop skills in communicating their needs.
