Hi, I’m Jen and this is Nanook

As a qualified teacher who has worked in mainstream, special schools and alternative education for 18+ years, I have a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the challenges learners face when accessing education.

My journey in education began teaching at the ‘Riding for the Disabled Association’ before completing my PGCE in Art and Design Education many moons ago. There I saw first hand, the benefits of learning outdoors, alongside animals and the natural world.

I was privileged to work at Wiltshire Equine Assisted Learning (WEAL) for several years, where every student was given the opportunity to develop a love of learning through the positive trusting relationships formed and accessible work, in an environment fit for purpose and meeting the needs of each learner individually.

I have extensive experience of working with learners with Special Educational Needs and disabilities (SEND), and have advanced my training to incorporate qualifications such as ‘Understanding Autism’.

Working in a trauma informed way, I am able to build supportive trusting relationships with the learners in my care, allowing them the safe space in which they can not only learn, but thrive. I am also the Designated Teacher for LAC.

I hold enhanced DBS, am the Designated Teacher for LAC and as the Designated Safeguarding Lead I have completed extensive safeguarding training. I am also a qualified paediatric first aider.
